It is very hard to predict at the outset how many sessions an individual will need, as this will vary based on the severity of the presenting issue and what the client’s goals for therapy are.
Some people prefer an open-ended contract, where they attend therapy for as long as needed and bring the work to an end when they feel support is no longer required. If you are unsure of what you need, I often recommend committing to an initial 6 sessions. In session 6, we review the work we have done and discuss whether you wish to continue with therapy or not.

It’s very normal to feel nervous coming to therapy for the first time and my intention is to help you feel at ease. The first session is just an introduction and there is no need to dive into difficult subjects right away, if you don’t feel ready. It often takes a few sessions to build a level of trust with the therapist.
At a pace that suits you, we will begin to explore what has brought you to counselling and discuss your expectations and goals for the therapy process. The first session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of whether I am the right therapist for you.
At the end of the first session, we will discuss how it went and whether you would like to continue with sessions. There is no obligation to continue beyond the first appointment. If you do wish to engage in further sessions, we will then discuss how we will work together.

I kindly ask that you give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel an appointment. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice or don’t show up for a scheduled appointment without prior notification, the full charge will apply.

The fee is €70 per session
