It’s very normal to feel nervous coming to therapy for the first time and my intention is to help you feel at ease. The first session is just an introduction and there is no need to dive into difficult subjects right away, if you don’t feel ready. It often takes a few sessions to build a level of trust with the therapist.
At a pace that suits you, we will begin to explore what has brought you to counselling and discuss your expectations and goals for the therapy process. The first session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of whether I am the right therapist for you.
At the end of the first session, we will discuss how it went and whether you would like to continue with sessions. There is no obligation to continue beyond the first appointment. If you do wish to engage in further sessions, we will then discuss how we will work together.
