How Our Sessions Work
Sessions are on a weekly basis but can be arranged fortnightly if this suits your schedule. Each session lasts 50 minutes.
The first session involves an assessment of your presenting issue. We will discuss your goals and expectations, and how counselling can help you. Developing a strong therapeutic relationship is crucial to the counselling process so we will also explore if you feel comfortable working with me.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions required varies from person-to-person and depending on the severity of the presenting issue.
- Short-term counselling/psychotherapy - Short-term therapy deals with issues that have recently surfaced in your life and may require only a few sessions for you to once again gain control of your life. Short-term therapy typically lasts 6 - 12 sessions.
- Open-ended counselling/psychotherapy - If you have been experiencing difficulties for a long period of time, you may wish to attend for a longer course of therapy. This enables us to explore the issue in greater detail, whilst also allowing you a longer period to find solutions or gain a deeper sense of understanding and acceptance.
Ensuring that you are getting what you need from counselling is of the highest importance. We review the work we have done with our clients every 6 weeks to ensure we are meeting our client's needs.
My practice is primarily located in the Crea Centre in Drumbaragh, Kells, Co. Meath. I also have space available in Navan. I am available weekday evenings after 5pm.
The fee for each session is €45.
